Meet the Doctors
Dr. James R. Midboe, D.C.
Dr. James R. Midboe grew up in the small Northern Minnesota town of Climax, where he was a multi-sport athlete, musician, and honor student. After high school, he accepted a football scholarship at Bemidji State University. While at Bemidji State, he received several academic honors and scholarships while earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry.
Beyond the classroom, as he was named team captain, team MVP, first team all-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, and all-Northwest Region during his time as a four-year starter for the Bemidji State Football Team.
His dedication in the classroom and on the playing field was complimented by his leadership in other campus organizations including serving as president of the Allied Health Club, vice president and secretary of the Chemistry Club, and president of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, which served as the voice between all student athletes of Bemidji State and the NSIC.
It was through sports that Dr. Midboe was initially introduced to the chiropractic profession. After sustaining a neck injury early in his high school football career, he was told he would never return to contact sports again. But, after several successful chiropractic treatments, was able to not only return to contact sports, but excel at both the collegiate and professional levels.
He attributes much of his return to the playing field, eventual college scholarship, years of traveling the country, and meeting some of the most influential people of his life to the workings of the chiropractic profession.
Dr. Midboe is a 2011 graduate from Northwestern Health Science University, in Bloomington, MN. While in graduate school, he served two separate internship periods at Finish Line Chiropractic before eventually being hired on full time in 2011. Dr. Midboe enjoys his time outdoors, playing guitar, hunting, basketball, working out, learning about health, and his time with friends and family. His long-term goals include being able to travel while educating people about wellness.
Dr. James T. Alexander, D.C.
Dr. James T. Alexander, D.C.Dr. James Alexander grew up in Lafayette, Minnesota, a small town north of New Ulm, and received his undergraduate degree from Gustavus Adolphus University and Doctorate of Chiropractic degree at Northwestern Health Sciences University.
Dr. Jim was introduced to chiropractic as a high school athlete, and quickly learned how chiropractic should be a vital part of any athlete’s lifestyle. Through chiropractic, Dr. Jim was shown the amazing healing properties of our body, and his personal experiences through chiropractic are the driving force to his passion for health and wellness.
Dr. Jim is the founder of Finish Line Chiropractic and recently sold the practice to Dr. Midboe. Dr. Jim will be focusing on expanding the Finish Line mission into chiropractic offices under the country. While maintaining an integral adjusting role, Dr. Jim will be diligently working on the LiveLife Wellness Coaching and Franchise opportunity. This is a program for chiropractors around the world to learn and replicate the systems that have helped Finish Line become one of the largest Wellness offices in the United States. This mission will help chiropractors and patients nationwide become exceptional in their pursuit of wellness.
In his free time, Dr. Jim enjoys spending time with his wife Chrissy, daughter Maddyn, sons Oren and Grayson. He also enjoys playing basketball, running and weightlifting.
Dr. Ashley Hartman, D.C.
Dr. Ashley Hartman was born and raised in Bismarck, ND. Upon graduating high school, she attended St. Cloud State University to complete her undergraduate studies. She went on to receive her Doctorate of Chiropractic from Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, MN in 2008.
Dedicated to helping her patients live happier, healthier lives, Dr. Ashley treats the body as a whole, focusing on correction of the problem, instead of just covering up the symptoms. Along with the power of chiropractic adjustments, Dr. Ashley implements nutritional supplementation, rehabilitation exercises, and lifestyle coaching into each patient’s treatment plan to help them reach optimal health.
With a special interest in the health of women and children, as well as nutrition, she treats newborns, the elderly, and everyone in between. Treatments are tailored specifically to each patient’s body and condition to ensure that each visit is a positive experience.
Dr. Ashley resides in Lakeville, MN with her husband, Matt, their puppy, Dakota, and their cat, Reagan. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, running, golfing, reading, camping, and doing any activity that involves a lake and sunshine.
Dr. Rachel M. Theis grew up in the northern suburbs of Minnesota where she received her high school diploma from Totino-Grace High School in Fridley and went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in Biology at The College of Saint Catherine (now St. Catherine University) in St. Paul. As a child she saw first hand the benefits of chiropractic and decided to dedicate her life to the art and science of natural health care. In 2012 she received her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from North Western Health Sciences University in Bloomington.
Dr. Rachel has been treating adults and children alike with acute and chronic neck, back and extremity dysfunction using chiropractic techniques in Minnesota since 2010 when she began her yearlong internship at Woodwinds Hospital in Woodbury. She continued her training at a clinic located in the heart of St. Paul where she was hired as an associate doctor upon graduation. Dr. Rachel was warmly welcomed to the Finish Line team in January of 2013.
She specializes in chiropractic medicine while incorporating spinal rehabilitation, physical therapy and nutritional counseling to get patients back into better health and functioning at optimal levels sooner. Dr. Rachel believes that a high quality and timely referral network in the alternative and conventional medical fields is important. As your doctor, her goal is to exceed your expectations. This is accomplished by offering you safe, personal and effective care. She will educate you about your conditions and make you aware of the treatment options.
Outside the chiropractic realm, Dr. Rachel spends time enjoying the little things in life with her high-spirited adorable little daughter, Leiny. They will often be found together exploring the great outdoors or crafting a project constructed in Leiny’s beautiful little brain.
Dr. Mathew Wiest, D.C.
Matt grew up in Enchant, Alberta, Canada, a small farming community just east of the Rocky Mountains. After high school Matt spent three years in Vancouver playing junior hockey before moving to Wisconsin to play college hockey at the University of Wisconsin – Superior where he earned his Bachelor of Exercise Science in Wellness and Fitness Management.
During his time at the University of Wisconsin – Superior, Matt was on the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) All Academic Team as well as serving on the student government as Communications Director for the University representing the voice of the student body.
Matt continued his education in Davenport, Iowa at Palmer College of Chiropractic where he earned his Doctorate of Chiropractic (D.C.) degree. It was through his experience in athletics that Matt’s passion for chiropractic grew. Matt is full body certified in Active Release Technique (ART) a system designed to help patients with problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Through personal experience as well as witnessing first hand numerous teammates benefit from care on and off the field, Matt knew that this is what he was meant to do.
In his free time Matt enjoys hockey, rugby, hiking, yoga, working out and spending time with his wife Britny and their two dogs.
Kay Grobel is the co-owner and founder of Finish Line Wellness in Burnsville, MN. Her mission with Finish Line Wellness is to help others live exceptional lives by making positive health and wellness choices. Kay specializes in designing and developing community outreach and corporate wellness programs that showcase this mission.
Kay is also the Wellness Coordinator and Business Development Specialist for Finish Line Chiropractic. Since joining the practice in 2010, she has helped it to become one of the largest health and wellness offices in the state. In 2011 Kay partnered with Dr. Jim Alexander, owner of Finish Line Chiropractic, to create Finish Line Wellness.
Kay grew up in Burnsville, Minnesota and values all the community has to offer. In her free time, she loves meeting new people, cheering on her children at sporting events and spending time with her family and friends.
